WHEN THE SUN HAS FUN

By Josie Whitehead

When the Sun Has Fun

The sun arose and said: 'I think
I’ll touch the clouds and turn them pink.'
     The clouds’ reflections in the lake
     Called to the ducks: 'You must awake.'

Ducks then quacked and stretched their wings
And - - shhh!  Listen!  Now a blackbird sings.
     The blackbird sits high in the tree
     And now his song has come to me.

I yawn and stretch, open my eyes
And goodness!  What a big surprise!
     The night has gone, the sun is bright;
     The moon and stars are out of sight.

The sun has woken you and me
And it's quite obvious, you see,
     That these things happened one by one
      Because the sun was having fun.
