WHAT A TERRIBLE TRICK

By Josie Whitehead

What a Terrible Trick

Three tiny black mice caused a *hullabaloo

When they rowed down the river in their canoe.

'Oh dear,' said the kingfisher: 'I really do wish

They wouldn’t disturb those tasty young fish.'

'Oh dear,' cried the mole:  'Do you think they are wise?

That current’s so strong and just look at their size!

Three poor little mice in that river’s strong flow

Is awfully dangerous as you probably know.'

'Yes, I know,' called an owl from up in his tree.

'I’ll do something to save them.  You leave it to me!'

He swooped to the river and scooped them up quick,

Then swallowed them whole!  What a terrible trick!!
