WELL, IF THIS ISN'T LOVE! . . . .

By Josie Whitehead

Well, If This Isn't Love . . .

Well, if this isn't love . . .

Then why does the world seem to wear a warm glow

Like the sun on a long sandy beach -

Or like thousands of stars that shine out in the sky

Or the glow on the skin of a peach?

Then why, when the telephone shrills with its ring,

Does my heart seem to jump in my chest?

And why, when I know I'll be seeing you soon,

Do I try to look just at my best?

Then why can I never stop thinking of you,

For my world is on fire inside -

And I boast to my friends of the way that I feel

As I mention your name with some pride?

Then why, when we meet does my world seem to stop,

With the two of us drifting in space?

And what more do I crave from the world where we live

Than to happily gaze at your face?

So if this is the way that I feel then I know

That I've fallen in love, that's for sure -

And if this isn't love, well tell me what is,

For there's nothing on earth I crave more.
