WELCOME FORTH
A BRAND NEW YEAR

By Josie Whitehead

Welcome Forth a Brand New Year

December, wrapped in Christmas shawl,
Brings presents, carols, manger stall

And dull days, draped in winter's gloom,
Are outcast from our sitting room

By twinkling lights that sing with cheer
And welcome forth a brand new year.

PERSONIFICATION IN MY POEM

Three examples of personification:  'December, wrapped in Christmas shawl', 'And dull days, draped in winter's gloom' and 'By twinkling lights that sing with cheer.' These 3 verbs give you a clue.  So, we try to shut out the gloom of winter with these 3 things.  Try some personification yourself - - - and a Happy New Year.  Josie
