PARENT POWER

By Josie Whitehead

Parent Power

Was Mum ever a teenage girl?
     Did Dad ever hang out?
Where did they learn to nag at kids
     And also how to shout?

Do all parents pass on these skills?
     Is there a course for this?
And, oh how they embarrass you
     When they hug and kiss!

When I’m a Dad then things will change –
     I’ll never shout or scream –
But before then I must find Miss Right
     For she’s part of my scheme!!

* Hang out:
Informal: spend time relaxing or enjoying oneself, eg: musicians hang out with their own kind.
  To spend time doing nothing in particular.  This is usually a 'teenage' phrase.  We all did this though, didn't we?  It's nice to have a bit of spare time.  Josie
