ON THE NIGHT
BEFORE CHRISTMAS

On the Night Before Christmas

On the night before Christmas

We ate Mum’s mince pies –

And they tasted quite lovely

     Which was a surprise - - -

For she doesn’t like cooking                     But this year she tried,

But I’m sorry to tell you - - -

    Of our pains deep inside.

Well, the night before Christmas

Was spent in the loo –

And for a family of four

     There soon was a queue.

Oh, and after this night

We spent next day in bed –

So, when was OUR Christmas?

Ohhh! - the next day instead.

Oh remember that this is only a made-up story for I'm sure you never had a Christmas like this

and especially not because of your mother's cooking.  My mother was a wonderful cook and so this story isn't true for me either.  If you have a funny story about Christmas, you can always write and tell me and I'm sure I can turn it into a poem.  Josie
