NOBODY GRUMBLES
UPON CHRISTMAS DAY

By Josie Whitehead

Nobody Grumbles Upon Christmas Day

Said the doll to the orange: 'It’s a bit of a shock
To have been on a sleigh and then put in a sock.'
Said the orange: 'You’re lucky.  Think how I feel.
You’ll be loved by a child whilst I'll just be peel.'

From up on the tree came a very loud squeal.
Said the poor little fairy: 'Well think how I feel.

They’ve put me up here and I’m frightened of heights,
And it's terribly hot near to these little lights.'

From a brightly wrapped box a teddy bear said:
'Oh stop all your grumbling!  Be happy instead.
      T
omorrow is Christmas! There’ll be laughter and play,
And nobody grumbles upon Christmas Day!'
