JOSIE'S POEMS
Weather Poems for Children
By Josie Whitehead
NEVER SAYING PLEASE
By Josie Whitehead
The wind swept over the ocean;
The wind swept over the trees;
The wind swept over the chimney pots - -
But it never once said 'please.'
The rain washed down on the rooftops;
The rain washed down on the seas;
The rain washed streets and pavements - -
But it never once said 'please.'
The fog crept over the hilltops
And it hugged my hands and knees.
The fog hid the sun high in the sky - -
But it never once said 'please.'
The snow fell over the garden
And coated the hedge and the trees.
The snow made everything clean and white - -
But - - - - - it never once said: '. . . . . . . '
'p l e a s e .'
