JOSIE'S POEMS
Summer Poems
By Josie Whitehead
I T ' S J U N E
By Josie Whitehead
For trees now clothed in green array;
For strengthened sun and longer days;
For birds that sing their happy tune -
We give you thanks, the month of June.
For gardens clothed in colours bright;
For blossomed trees that give delight.
The longest day will be here soon.
Of course it will - the month is June.
I was born upon this day,
But now that seems so far away.
Come, share my cake this afternoon -
Upon the twenty-first of June.

NOTE: The beautiful garden above, in Oldswinford, Stourbridge, was my home and my mother's pride and joy and if I think of her now, I'm always walking down this garden, through the door and I'll find her in her kitchen. She died some years ago, but she'll always be in my heart and so will this garden.
