THE GREAT TURKEY ESCAPE
By Josie Whitehead
'Christmas Day is coming soon?
Well, what is that to me?
It’s just another boring day
In Turkeyland you see.'

'Christmas Day is coming soon?
Oh heck! Oh goodness NO!
That worries us in Turkeyland,
I think you’ll surely know.'

'Christmas Day is coming soon.
Let’s steal away tonight.
That farmer’s also coming too.
Let’s get far from his sight.'

'Christmas Day is coming soon.
We’ve all escaped quite well.
There’s nothing left in Turkeyland
Except a turkey smell.'

'Christmas Day is coming soon.
There’s none of us who care -
But eating us on Christmas Day?
That surely can’t be fair.'

'So we send our Christmas turkey wish
To vegetarian friends.
We’ve lots of sunbathing to do,
So it's here our poem ends.'
