God of love to whom we pray,
Teach us how to live each day.
     To love and cherish all things dear
     Produced by your presence near.

      Stir up in us our *bounden duty.

Through changing faces of the seasons
Bring to our lives purpose and reason.
     Guide us through our lives each day
      In both our work and at our play.

Help us choose what’s right from wrong
Throughout our earthly lives along; 
     To seek out justice, love and kindness;
     To banish hate and *spiritual blindness.

* bounden duty - that which you know you should do, ie all of the things outlined in each verse.

 

* spiritual blindness = being blind to God's word, ie to goodness and I also add 'hate' because this is totally intertwined to spiritual blindness.
