GHOSTLY SHAPES
IN THE NIGHT

By Josie Whitehead

Ghostly Shapes in the Night

Wind rattled the chimney, it whipped at the door
And the lights of the house all went out.
I heard someone screaming from not far away,
And I felt that a ghost was about.

The window panes rattled, the curtains then moved
And ghostly shapes moved round the wall.
A feeling of terror made me shiver with fear
As I heard a loud scream in the hall.

A gripping fear caused me to shiver and shake,
Then I suddenly woke from my dream.
It was only the sound of my brother next door
And his nightmare had caused him to scream.

Our parents came running to settle us down
And with comforting words they both said:
'The ghosts only come to plague children who eat
Cheesy crisps before going to bed.'
