DON'T BE
AN EARLY WORM

By Josie Whitehead

Don't Be an Early Worm

Here’s some advice for all you worms:

     Make sure you all sleep late.

The early bird breakfasts on worms.

      Oh what a heartless fate!

If you’re a worm don’t view the world

    But stay deep in the ground.

The robin's ears are very sharp.

     He hears your every sound.

All you who stay well out of sight

    Are safe and quite secure

For, one quick peep out at this world,

    And you’ll be grabbed for sure!!

So, take advice, you wriggly worm;

     Don't risk a robin's tummy,

For 'tis well known that fresh-dug worms,

    To him, are rather yummy!
