DO'S AND DON'Ts

By Josie Whitehead

Do's and Don'ts

Don’t scream at your sister;
     Don’t worry the cat;
Don’t gobble your dinner;
      Don’t throw down your hat.

Don’t chase your poor Granny;
     Don’t tease your poor Dad;
Don’t be rude to your Mummy –
      You know she gets mad!

Do get on with your homework;
     Do clean up that mess!
Do brush your hair nicely,
     And try to impress.

Do learn to say thank you;
     Do hurry, it’s late;
Do tie your shoe laces
     And empty your plate.

In the years of your childhood
     These things you will hear,
But when you become old,

    (Yes, really old like I am) - - -

     Well you can turn a deaf ear!

Copyright on all my poems

* 'To turn a deaf ear':  to ignore someone when they complain about something.  Sometimes parents 'turn a deaf ear' when children become a nuisance by asking for something all the time.  You will all understand.

* This popular poem has been chosen by many children for my school or skype visits.   They obviously like it!  Josie
