Flower Story Poem

DANDELIONS FOR MUM
By Josie Whitehead
Alli, Mellie, Moll and I
Walked in a field of green.
Then Alli stopped and yelled: 'Look here!'
At something that he’d seen.
‘It’s only dandelions,’ said Moll.
‘They’re just a common weed,’
And we all looked at them and laughed
And all of us agreed.
But Alli said: ‘They’re beautiful!
Look at their golden heads –
And, see, they are not common weeds
Except in Mum’s flower bed.’
‘Their pretty heads are brilliant!’
These words we heard him say,
And: ‘I’ll pick a bunch of dandelions
For today's her special day.
And so he picked a great big bunch.
His sisters laughed and teased
But Mum accepted them with love
And her face showed she was pleased.

There's an easy way to know whether to use "Moll and I" or "Moll and me." Just take "Moll" out of the sentence for a second. Would you say,"Moll and me walked in a field of green"? No, of course you wouldn't but you would say: "I walked in a field of green" wouldn't you? You could say: 'These cakes are for Moll and me' because when you cut Moll out you'd say: (These cakes are for ME). Always do this test. It's easy-peasy.
