DAFFODILS IN THE RAIN

By Josie Whitehead

Daffodils in the Rain

Nodding gently in the breeze;
Bathed in rain beneath the trees;
     Yellow trumpets, bold and proud,
     Throwing scorn upon the cloud.

You do not heed our joy or sorrow
But herald hope of bright tomorrow.
     Nodding heads of golden treasure
     Bringing joy and springtime pleasure.
