JOSIE'S POEMS

Seasons and Weather Poems/

Simile Poems

By Josie Whitehead

Autumn Similes.jpg

As gold as the leaves when the autumn is here

Yes, this season’s arrived, it’s perfectly clear.

As sweet as the blackberries we picked in the lane

Still wet where they bathed in the soft gentle rain.

As long as the nights and as short as the days.

Oh look at the trees now their leaves all ablaze.

As ready as swallows who’re preparing to fly;

Then off they go southward high up in the sky.

As fierce as the wind blowing over the plain,

And as soft as the raindrops on my window pane.

As busy as me as I clear autumn leaves

Or the farmer who works to bring in the sheaves.

As pleased as you are to see friends once again.

It’s ‘back to school time’ now, it’s ever so plain!
