Tiger

AND SO DO I

By Josie Whitehead

And So Do I

The tiger stretches limb by limb.
      He views his world through sleepy eyes
And wonders what his day will bring.
      He does these things and so do I.

The bear sets forth to hunt for food
     And rambles under cloudy skies.
He ponders what he’ll eat today.
     He looks for food, and so do I.

All creatures teach their young to hunt
    And watch for danger, lest they die.
The parents teach the skills of life.
     Their young learn these, and so do I.

The creatures of the day will seek
     A place to sleep that’s warm and dry;
A safe abode that’s far from harm.
    They drift to sleep, and so do I.
